Citric Acid Anhydrous… What is it?
Citric acid (E330) is an additive but it is naturally found in citrus fruits, giving citrus fruits their tart flavour. Commercially it is produced using microbial fermentation of a carbohydrate substrate. It is the most widely used organic acid and pH-control agent in foods and beverages and in the pharmaceutical industry it is used as a stabiliser and preservative.
